Becky's Bulletin (V2 #2)

Hello, friends! It has been quite an exciting summer! Let me first update you on the answers to the prayer requests I shared with you:

1) “souls of the girls I’ll be counseling”: God brought two girls in my cabin to the saving knowledge of Christ during my last week at camp (July 24-30). Many other campers were saved throughout the summer.
2) “wisdom in counseling”: One of the most special ways God gave wisdom was in the burden He placed on my heart to use every moment. There are many times where God granted little two-minute walks of one-on-one time with campers. There are other times when frankly I did not have the wisdom, but God sent along others who, by His Spirit, provided the wisdom. One such awesome occurrence happened during my third week of camp. The last vehicle drove up and the girl stepped out, clearly having arrived at the last place she wanted to be at that moment. I was praying silently during the parents’ and my interaction with the teen. Meanwhile, God was burdening the other Ranch counselor, Heather, who turned to me and said, “Becky, why don’t we pray with her?” So, we took her over to a bare platform (we stayed in platform tents-- look through the grass blades on the right J) and prayed with her. At that point, Heather had another camper arrival, so I just stayed with my camper and continued to pray silently. God, in His sovereignty, allowed the girl to stay the entire week. There were some ups and downs, but overall we had an awesome week.

3) “dedication in God’s Word and prayer”: There were two passages I read consistently throughout the summer, James 3:17-4:10 and 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12. God used these passages to convict me and challenge me in the areas of motives and boldness. Times of devotions were usually spent outdoors. It was neat to be surrounded by the creation of the Creator I was reading about!

During the first week, I had a fun cabin of 4-6 graders. I taught level 1 at the ranch camp that week, so I got to interact with all my campers in a class setting during the day.

The second week, I had two campers, Grace and Grace. J We were on an Onsite Pack and Trail. We would ride out to North Point, a campsite about a mile (?) from main camp, take care of our horses and tie them to a high line for the night, have a campfire and Bible Lesson Time, and spend the night there,. We had breakfast and Bible Lesson Time in the morning, and then would leave for a couple hour trail ride. Depending on the day, we would eat a packed lunch, spend free time and dinner at main camp, and return to North Point. I enjoyed the opportunity for discipleship this week as both my campers professed to be born-again Christians.
The third and fourth week, I had 6-8 graders. I taught Level 1 the first week, and had a very full schedule, but the next week I was not an instructor, and I had large portions of time in which I was able to rest and be refreshed in the Word.
Oh, and what a week to end on! During my fifth week, God not only saved two girls in my cabin, but also put a girl in my cabin who had a passion for Him! I loved answering her questions when I could and pointing her to the Word!

An ultimate lesson from the entire summer was learning to trust God’s sovereignty. I realized that God is sovereign over these girls’ lives, and He can still save the souls of those who left without Him, and He is alive and at work in His children!
